WHALE

Many whale species can be found around Iceland. Most of them only spend the summer months in Icelandic waters, feeding there before heading south to bear their young. The biggest of these is the blue whale, the earth’s largest animal. Whales are known for the unique sounds they make, which they use to get a sense of their surroundings and to communicate with each other.
